About Us

Northmount Pharmacy opened its doors on June 30, 1968, at what was then the tallest building in North Vancouver. The manager was Murray Dykeman and the pharmacist was Bob Mason. Bob eventually purchased the store in 1978, but it wasn't until 1994 that he focused his interests into compounding. Since travelling to Houston, Texas to learn the fundamentals of compounding, Bob and Northmount have aquired extensive knowledge in the field and continue to strive to be the best. As a result of having these abilities, Northmount Pharmacy was asked by Dr. Jack Taunton, Chief Medical Officer for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, to act as the official pharmacy for the Olympics. Dr. Taunton received accolades for his medical work during the games, and we were told that the Olympic Committee had never had such excellent, trouble free pharmacy service, which is what we take pride in every day.

In 2011, Northmount Pharmacy entered a new era with the addition of three partners who now make up the company’s shareholder group. Six years later, in 2017, the pharmacy faced a significant challenge when its long-standing medical building was sold to a developer. Demonstrating resilience and commitment to its community, Northmount Pharmacy successfully relocated in 2021 to 165 E 15th Street, just two blocks from its original home.

The new location allowed for a substantial expansion and modernization of the pharmacy’s facilities. The upgraded compounding lab was designed to meet emerging federal standards, and the space now includes an enhanced over-the-counter retail area and a private consultation room dedicated to vaccines and patient consultations.

Today, Northmount Pharmacy continues to build on its rich history—combining expertise, innovation, and community-centered care to serve the people of North Vancouver with excellence.
